FCC Web design project
Filipino Christian Church is based in Seattle, Washington U.S.A. This Church community is mostly composed of Filipino Families who migrated here to the United States.
Structure
The church site is built using WordPress. The Theme design is primarily for FCC’s particular use. Frameworks used: Google’s materialize CSS and Bootstrap.
Their Story
The church community has over 100 members including children. We personally met them and goes to their Sunday service (shock right, I do go to church) at 6155 Beacon Ave South Seattle, Wa.
They are very warm and welcoming. The advantage and the opportunity to speak your native tongue is a plus. Less stress when somebody won’t get my jokes that sounded funny in Filipino until I decided to translate it into English!
Kidding aside it is good to have that fuzzy warm feeling you only get when you do praise and worship. People do all sorts to get high. This is the only high that has no side effects!
Insights
One of the few tools that are very useful in every WordPress Project is the use of Plugins!
What works on one site may not work in another. Experimenting and comparing plugin usability for you as a developer may not be happy to your client in the long run.
One plugin in particular that I happen to use and very much like using when I did this project was the WCK plugin. The site, in particular, has many pages and preparing the site for incoming posts under specific categories made me find a way to segregate the future posts if possible.
The plugin made the creation of specific category or topic of posts easier. I am still experimenting with this plugin together with wp_query. I will try and post them next time until I dived more with regards to the subject of post creation.
As always, any plugin without any support and having compatibility issues is a sign of deactivation.
